Angela Covert-Lawrence Named CAVALOR ‘Athlete of the Month’

Ottawa, Ontario — Angela Covert-Lawrence of St. Lazare, QC, was named the CAVALOR ‘Athlete of the Month’ for November by Jump Canada.

On November 6, Covert-Lawrence earned the Canadian Show Jumping Reserve Championship title at the Royal Horse Show in Toronto, ON.  Riding Unica van de Roshoeve, a 14-year-old Belgian Warmblood mare owned by the Eastwood Group, Covert-Lawrence posted three clear rounds over the two-day competition.

Canadian Show Jumping Team Victorious in Buenos Aires Nations’ Cup

Ottawa, ON — The Canadian Show Jumping Team comprised of Jonathan Asselin, Angela Covert-Lawrence, Tiffany Foster and Emily George won the Nations’ Cup competition held Friday, November 25, at CSIO4*-W Buenos Aires at Haras El Capricho from November 23–27, 2011.

Canada finished the two-round Nations’ Cup team competition with a total of 22 faults to claim victory over Argentina and Brazil, who tied for second with a total of 26 faults.  Chile placed fourth with 28 faults while the United States placed fifth with 29 faults.  The home team of Argentina finished sixth with 33 faults.  In the 2010 Buenos Aires Nations’ Cup, Canada finished second to the United States.

As the lead-off rider, Foster, 27, of Schomberg, ON, rode Victor, a nine-year-old Dutch Warmblood gelding owned by Artisan Farms and Torrey Pines Stable.  In only her second appearance on the Canadian Show Jumping Team, Foster incurred four faults in the first round before returning to jump clear in the second round.

Jonathan Asselin, Angela Covert-Lawrence, Tiffany Foster and Emily George will form the Canadian Show Jumping Team for the Nations’ Cup in Buenos Aires, ARG, from November 23 to 27, 2011.

The team will first compete at an event held at the Club Hipico San Jorge Village from November 17 to 19 before the Nations’Cup is held during the CSIO4*-W Buenos Aires at Haras El Capricho from November 23–27, 2011.

Angela Covert-Lawrence Wins Inaugural $60,000 Grand Prix of Rockwood

Rockwood, Ontario — Angela Covert-Lawrence of St-Lazare, QC, captured victory in the $60,000 Grand Prix of Rockwood, presented by the Hudson’s Bay Company and Barry Cullen Chevrolet, on Saturday, October 1, at the inaugural Angelstone International Show Jumping Tournament held September 27 to October 2 at Angelstone Farms in Rockwood, ON.

From an impressive starting field of 36 horses, eight jumped clear over the first round track set by course designer Pierre Jolicoeur in the all-weather ring. Angela Covert-Lawrence was the only woman in the jump-off field which also included Yann Candele of Caledon, ON, with three horses, as well as nine-time Olympian Ian Millar of Perth, ON, Canadian Equestrian Team veteran Hugh Graham of Schomberg, ON, Elliott Stone of Midland, ON, and Colombia’s Roberto Teran, who will represent his country at the upcoming Pan American Games.
